About the Instructors


DR. JACOB G. PARK obtained his dental degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He maintains a private practice in San Antonio, Texas, with a special emphasis on occlusion oriented esthetic and CEREC 3D & Bluecam dentistry. He is also Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Dental School, and he serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Cellular and Structural Biology (TMJ Anatomy) at the Graduate School of Biomedical Science at the Health Science Center.

Dr. Park’s current research interest is in the application of CAD CAM technology to restorative procedures to reduce the invasive preparations. He has been using CEREC in his private practice since May of 2001 and is the CEREC Course Director at the Dental School. In addition, Dr. Park is a certified CAD CAM International Instructor by the International Society of Computerized Dentistry.

He is a mentor in Dr. Terry T. Tanaka’s Clinical Research Foundation. Dr. Park has studied the occlusion and management of TMD extensively under the direction of Dr. Jose dos Santos and Dr. Terry T. Tanaka. As co-author with Dr. Jose dos Santos, he is currently writing chapters on occlusion for the new edition of a textbook.

His teaching obligations include the topics of dental anatomy and occlusion to undergraduate students, and is course director of the CAD CAM (CEREC 3D & Bluecam) for undergraduate students, residents and faculty. Dr. Park’s current project includes the clinical evaluation of current CAD CAM technology in general practice and in the teaching environment.

Dr. Park holds fellowship status in the International College of Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry International and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, American Equilibration Society, and the San Antonio District Dental Society.

DR. TERRY T. TANAKA is a Clinical Professor at the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry, Department of Graduate Prosthodontics; private practice in prosthodontics in Chula Vista, California. Dr. Tanaka is the founder and director of the "TMD and Restorative Dentistry Study Groups" held at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine, since 1982. He has published numerous articles and is widely recognized as a research anatomist and for his teaching of advanced restorative procedures. He is highly sought after as a speaker throughout the world, and is known for his exciting presentations and outstanding clinical skills. His educational videotapes on TM Dysfunction, Anatomy and Implants are used in over 80 medical and dental schools and surgery programs throughout the world.

Dr. Tanaka holds Fellowships in the Academy of Dentistry International, American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists and is a Master, Academy of General Dentistry, and is a Diplomate, American Board of Orofacial Pain. He is a member of the Pacific Coast Society of Prosthodontists, American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, American Academy of Orofacial Pain and the American Equilibration Society, among others.
